More Marie

Life with a new baby in the house has been wonderful. Marie is so mellow and content. She is such a good baby. She has even had a couple of 8 hour stretches at night, already! Of course, I'm sure that I have now jinxed myself and won't get a decent nights rest for weeks . Oh well, I will enjoy it while it lasts!
William is still getting used to this new life of his. For the first week he was completely taken with his baby sister. He loved to kiss her and hug her and got concerned when she would cry. This week he is experimenting with how much he can get away with. He shakes her bassinet, hits her, drives his cars on her, pushes her swing; you name it, he has tried it. I think he is wondering why she hasn't gone away yet. It is weird to think that as he gets older he won't even remember life without Marie because it sure has thrown him for a loop!

Grandma P. and Aunt Becky picked this outfit and blanket out for Marie. So precious.

And here is our angel modeling one of mom's great buys. This dress was on sale for $9, originally $30. So, not only does she look dang cute, but she is already learning the art of bargain shopping. Gotta start 'em young, right? :)

Why didn't I think of that?

Ever since I found out I was having a girl I have been looking forward to putting cute little headbands on her. Being the frugal person that I am (wink, wink), I wanted to figure out how to make them myself, rather than pay the overpriced cost at boutiques and such. So I did some searching online and found some instructions for cute bows, but I couldn't figure out what everybody used for the headband part. Well, you can imagine my excitement when I found out that our Relief Society was including headbands as one of the crafts at Super Saturday. So, to make a long story short, guess what they use . . . knee highs. OK, is that not ingenious? Again I ask, why didn't I think of that?

These are the three headbands I made today. I didn't actually go to Super Saturday, considering the fact that I had a baby a week ago. Instead I went and got my supplies from the church and hosted my own little Super Saturday in the comforts of my own home, between baby feedings and naps. The smaller one is a knee high folded in half.

And here is our little princess modeling her newest wardrobe accessory. Isn't it just adorable?

This one, I think she will have to grow into a bit. Brandon and I got a good laugh when I tried it on.

Brother and Sister

One of my many thoughts after Marie was born was how much she looked like William. She is smaller than he was, but here are a couple of pictures to compare. The first pictures is obviously Marie and the second is of William. Can you believe the similarities? Something tells me they are related.

Preggo Update

I had a doctor's appointment today. Marie was being wiggly, but I did get to see some of her face in the ultrasound. She is looking good, with a current measurement of 6 pounds 5 ounces. However, her fluids are not quite what the doctor would like them to be.

"The doctor will measure the largest pockets of amniotic fluid in four different sections of your uterus and add them together to see where you rate on the amniotic fluid index (AFI). A normal measure for the third trimester is between 5 and 25 centimeters (cm). A total of less than 5 cm is considered low."

My fluids are currently at a 7, on the verge of being risky. The doc will check again next Friday and if they are any lower she is sending me to the hospital for an induction. With an AFI of 5 or lower, she will send me right over to the hospital. With an AFI of 6 she will send me to the hospital Saturday morning.

In the meantime, I need to make sure that this baby is moving alot by doing kick counts. If you want to know what that is, ask my mom.

So, it looks like Marie's birthday will either be the 12th or the 13th of October, unless she decides to come sooner.

My name is William and I am a car-a-holic

William and I tried to go to story time at the library today. I say "tried" because he only lasted about 10 minutes. By that time, he had already tried to steal another kid's toy car , had a time-out for that, and then tried to take shoes off of some boy. Can you guess what was on the shoes? Yep, cars. The boy tucked his feet underneath him and William just lost it. We walked out of the library with him screaming, "Caaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr." Oh my goodness, I am being punished for any judgmental thought I have ever had about any other mother. AND, I am so done with this obsession. I mean, it was cute when he would point out cars on the road and drive his toy cars around the house for hours at a time. It was cute yesterday when he got a stuffed car pillow from Rebecca. Today, he has taken it too far, he has gotten to the point that he thinks any toy car he sees should belong to him. Anyone know of any local Cars Anonymous meetings I can take him to? This Mom is in need of some serious help.
